Average/Mean/Median/Mode Calculator
Paste a list of numbers to get the mean, median, mode, range, and count all at once — instantly, in your browser.
Paste a list of numbers to get the mean, median, mode, range and count at once. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste or type your numbers, separated by commas, spaces or new lines.
- Read the five results.
What each result means
- Mean: the sum divided by the count.
- Median: the middle value once sorted (or the mean of the two middle ones).
- Mode: the most frequent value, or several if they tie, or “None” if every value is unique.
- Range: largest minus smallest.
Example: 4, 8, 6, 5, 3, 8, 9 gives mean 6.14, median 6, mode 8 and range 6. The list 3, 5, 5, 7, 7, 9 has two modes, 5 and 7.
Good to know
The median is the better “typical” value when a few extreme numbers would pull the mean away. For how spread out the numbers are, use the Standard Deviation Calculator. The full explanation is in how to calculate mean, median and mode.
FAQs
Does the order of the numbers matter?
No. The tool sorts and counts them itself, so any order gives the same results.
What if a value is not a number?
The tool tells you which input could not be read, so you can correct it.
