Password Generator
Generate strong, random passwords with your choice of character types and length, using a cryptographically secure random source — instantly, in your browser.
Generate strong random passwords in your browser, using the browser’s secure random source. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
How to use it
- Pick a length: 8, 12, 16, 24, 32 or 64.
- Tick the character sets to use: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols.
- Choose how many passwords to make (1, 5, 10 or 25).
- Copy one into your password manager.
How strong is it?
For a random password, strength in bits is length × log2(pool size). With all four sets the pool is 87 characters, giving about 6.4 bits per character:
- 12 characters: 77 bits
- 16 characters: 103 bits
- 20 characters: 129 bits
Length matters more than variety. If a site rejects symbols, make the password longer instead.
Good to know
Characters come from crypto.getRandomValues, not Math.random. No characters are excluded as “ambiguous”, and at least one set must be ticked. Generating a password does not protect it: store it in a password manager, use a different one for every account, and turn on two-factor sign-in. NIST’s password guidance favours length over forced complexity and requires password managers and pasting to be allowed.

FAQs
Is it safe to use an online generator?
This one runs locally and sends nothing, but you are still trusting the page you loaded. A reputable password manager’s built-in generator saves the password at the moment it makes it.
How often should I change passwords?
NIST advises against forced routine changes. Change one if you suspect exposure, and never reuse it.
