CSS gradient

Syntax

linear-gradient(135deg, #ff7e5f 0%, #feb47b 100%) blends from one colour to another along a 135-degree line. The percentages are colour stops. Angles run clockwise from 0 degrees, which points up.

Types

Linear gradients follow a line, radial ones spread from a point, and conic ones sweep around a point. The Gradient Generator makes two-colour linear gradients.

Why use it

It loads instantly, scales to any size and adds no image weight. See how to create a CSS gradient for the steps.

Common misunderstanding

A gradient is a background image in CSS, not a colour, so it is set with background or background-image, not color. Check text contrast against both ends.
